Creativity without compromise

Leanne, Mersea Island

Holiday Home

“Working with Ann from start to finish. I can only say what an amazing job she has done on my holiday home. I had not wanted to go there anymore as it was literally falling apart and now I’m down every spare moment we have. I absolutely love the transformation she has achieved and still can’t believe it’s the same place. Thank you so much Ann.”

Inspirational Visit – followed by full design and project management

Leanne had fallen out of love with her static caravan located on Mersea. What was once thought of as a second home was now being used less.

Looking for a change Leanne wanted to bring the spark back. As always, we started with an Inspirational Visit. I never once saw this project as a caravan – just simply a home. I think Leanne was a little taken aback with brief that followed. She was so pleased with the visit and brief she asked me to undertake the full design service along with full project management. Enabling all work to be undertaken without Leanne having to manage the works from afar.

I suggested a “New England” scheme that Leanne just loved.

Creativity without compromise was needed to ensure the kitchen and living room areas had the update they needed, whilst optimising the budget.

All the kitchen units are bespoke in size so would be too costly to replace. Adding MDF to the doors to create a shaker style look, painting them and adding new handles instantly gave the kitchen the wow factor. Finishing the kitchen area off with new worktops, lighting and accessories gave Leanne a kitchen anyone would be happy to cook in.

Changing the colour palette throughout the space was now felt a larger space and lighter. Adding extra special touches like the Omexco eco-friendly wallpaper made from sparkling stones, to the beautiful fabric from Clarke and Clarke for the curtains and cushions. Truly showing a ‘second home’ doesn’t have to be second thought.

Static caravans have a lot of windows! This is of course, great for letting in the light. However, it brings other complications: privacy, bleaching of furniture and fittings and temperature control. The solution? I really didn’t want any form of lightweight curtains to take away from the initial design. So we installed a ‘one way’ film on all the windows. This film provides the solutions to privacy, temperature control and protects furniture – without losing the view.
