When Lynn and David downsized to their new home in East Bergholt, Essex, they knew it had potential but hadn’t yet made it truly their own. After Lynn inherited some money, they decided it was time to transform their space into something that reflected both of their personalities.
The challenge was clear: Lynn loved bold colours, while David preferred a more neutral palette. They also had separate lounges where they liked to relax. Our goal was to create a cohesive design that honoured both their styles while maximizing the functionality of their home.
In the master bedroom, Lynn was given free rein with colour. We built bespoke wardrobes and a dressing table, and repositioned the bed – a change they hadn’t considered before but loved. The ensuite was transformed from a cramped space into an elegant, calming retreat with warm blues and golds, featuring a spacious walk-in shower and double vanity.
The hall, stairs, and landing underwent a dramatic makeover. After working closely with Lynn, we were able to capture her vibrant spirit in a design that she described as “wild” – in the best possible way!
For David’s lounge, we kept things more subdued, creating a comfortable space that suited his taste for neutrals. Lynn’s lounge, in contrast, became a colourful expression of her personality.
Throughout the home, we reimagined layouts to increase storage and improve accessibility for both Lynn and David. Even the exterior got a refresh, with new paint to complement their new front door.
The result? A welcoming home that beautifully balances Lynn’s love of bold design with David’s preference for understated elegance. It’s a space that truly reflects them both – vibrant, comfortable, and uniquely theirs.
