David & Ann wanted to create a pension for their retirement, they had previously converted one part of their home into a self-contained annex that they successfully rent out, unless needed when all the family arrive for a visit.
They wanted to create a destination place that was a home from home, Ann hated what she calls tacky nautical so Little lodge was done in a country cottage style, they wanted something different for this one that did reflect the fact they were on an island near the water and with amazing scenery. Ann decided to design this as a New Hamptons retreat.
This was a full build project from the ground up so took a while to pull together from designs, planning permission to the end project. Salt Lodge is now open for business and has been such a success already.
