Holiday Let Design West Mersea, before it was just a dark narrow hall full of doors and as these rooms were no longer used as the children had fled the nest, it was time to make the house make some money as a nest egg.
So where to start, change a bathroom and separate shower room in to one elegant bathroom fitted with a large walk-in shower and a large freestanding bath, who wouldn’t want to stay here with this calm relaxing bathroom.
Let in the light, yes by removing the office wall and the end bedroom wall you created a perfect area large enough for a kitchen diner with its own breakfast bar and a good size open plan lounge area.
The bedroom on the right stayed but was given a whole new look.
Wanting a place like home from home I decided to go with a welcoming country feel with plenty of natural light, and some accent lights for those moody evenings. This had to appeal to all people, and I feel this was achieved by painting the bedroom furniture in a soft warm cream and using soft mauves on the walls and those finishing touches of cushions and throws to add to the comfort.
The lounge area colour scheme all started with the beautiful yellow chair that felt and looked fresh and had that country feel mixed with wool curtains greys and a touch of green this gave the whole place a real transformation that guests would comment on for years to come.
We added a private entrance to the other end and kept a door to main house that stayed locked unless family and friends want to stay when it’s not in use with guests. To finish it off a white painted picket fence was added to the outside to create a courtyard garden with a bistro table set.
