A place where dreams are made!
Throughout 2018, I had been working hard to create a beautiful short-term holiday rental that guests could book to come and enjoy a break from reality.
I ended up calling this my Little Lodge, as it has everything that you would want, from a newly fitted bathroom to a relaxing living room that brings families together.
For the Little Lodge, I wanted to make it as cosy and comfortable as possible, almost like a home away from home.
I chose to keep the colours bright in the communal areas, with a sense of spring all-year-round. You can see how I transformed a dark and unused room into a stunning open-planned kitchen, and a colourful living room.
However, for the bedroom I wanted to go for a sophisticated and elegant feel, with hues of pink, silver and grey.
I chose to use Autentico Velvet in Mauve Faux, a dusty pink, for one large wall which will become my feature. With this, I’ll sit my main furniture pieces against this, such as the bed and vanity.
Then I used Soft Mauve, a paler pink with a cream tint, in Autentico Velvet for the other 3 walls to create a light and fresh touch. I think that this stops the room from looking too dark during the daytime, keeping an inspiring yet comforting space.
The upcycled furniture, such as the vanity desk, the stool and wardrobe, were brought back to life with Autentico Velvet in Rose White & Grandiose Wax Oil in Natural I didn’t want to buy brand new furniture when I had unloved pieces lying around that could be transformed with the help of Autentico.
To firmly seal the furniture, I applied a coat of Autentico Wax in Clear, which gives off a classic matt finish with full protection of the underneath layer, so my paint will remain rich and pigmented for years to come.
To decorate the bedroom, I added a pink shaggy rug; satin silver bed sheets, a fluffy pink throw and a suede pink cushion.
I hung three mirrors above the bed to give the illusion of a larger room and added delicate ornaments around the surfaces to tie the whole piece together.
Even though this colour theme is worlds apart from the rest of my Little Lodge, I think it works perfectly. It looks so inviting and homely, ready for a good night’s sleep!
It really is a place where dreams are made.
