Warm Neutrals
Joanne, Mersea Island
Whole House Makeover
Moving to Mersea is something that Joanne has always said she would do ‘one day’. So, when Joanne and her daughter made their move from Chelmsford – they wanted their new home to be just right.
Jo runs her own business from home and needed a separate workspace so we got creative with the footprint they had. The garage was converted into a functional office space that also has a separate area for storage. This allows Jo to work comfortably from home but with the ability to have ‘home’ and ‘office’ separated.
Inspired by Kelly Hoppen, who specialises in neutrals, I set out to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in Jo’s home
The lounge and dining room were given a complete makeover, using soft greys and accessorising carefully so it felt warm and not cold. The existing fireplace was dull and dated but Jo didn’t want to lose it – this was given a new look with a fresh coat of paint and a wooden mantle.
The staircase, which was typical of a 70’s style, was given a contemporary look with new kneel posts, spindles, and a staircase runner and rods it gave it a fresh contemporary look.
Upstairs continued with neutral colours with pops of pink for the bedroom, a toned-down soft pink was used to create a cosy sanctuary.
With a tight deadline, I had to be creative and work efficiently, so I organised all the contractors and oversaw the entire project.
The conservatory was fitted with a new roof to help with temperature and this extra extension of the space is now transformed into a usable beautiful Boho-style space, complete with pastel pink accents.
